Mortal Kombat is a franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, was originally a series of video games developed by Midway Games. The first title in the Mortal Kombat series was launched in 1992. Most of the series consists of fighting games, but due to its huge success, the series has expanded to other media such as movies, TV series and comics.
The first four games and their updates were initially released in the arcade machines. After the arcade games were converted to home consoles by Acclaim Entertainment. From Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Midway Games has created its games exclusively for home consoles, what happens to the most recent game, Mortal Kombat. After the bankruptcy of Midway, the franchise was bought by Warner Bros.. in July 2009 as part of the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
